美国作家邝丽莎《雪花秘扇》一经出版便风靡美国,成为华裔文学中引入中国元素的又一部力作。然而在以女书、老同及裹脚布为背景的故事叙述中,作者演绎裹脚布带给妇女的苦痛的同时,却不曾想到作为美的枷锁的裹脚布和现代的高跟鞋从本质上的一致性。作者渲染着老同之间的超越友谊爱情的姐妹情谊,却在性的描绘上不遗余力地展示了西方中心主义式的猎奇和想象。作者反复地演绎女书的书写和内容,在彰显古中国妇女聪慧、轻盈与男权对抗的勇毅的同时,恰恰落入了女权主义者的书写模式。于是,作者在夹杂着自身文化思维模式的同时关照和演绎中国文化元素,其最终塑造的只能是似是而非的他者化的中国形象。

The author repeatedly interprets the writing and content of female books, while highlighting the bravery of the ancient Chinese women in their intelligence, lightness and patriarchal confrontation, while falling into the feminist mode of writing. As a result, the author cares about and interprets the elements of Chinese culture while mixing with his own cultural thinking mode, which ultimately shapes the plausible Chinese image of the other.
