By 2030, China’s middle class may increase from 150 million to 1 billion, which will indirectly boost the demand for seafood and other high value-added foods. As incomes rise, more and more rich Chinese begin to eat around the world plan. They stop eating scrumptious chicken and pork, preferring lobster seafood and more. For a long time, China has been the world’s largest seafood producer and exporter. However, another survey shows that seafood imports in China are also rapidly increasing. China is importing a large amount of imported seafood to developed countries. According to data from North American market research company Technavio, Chinese consumers have now consumed 35% of the world’s seafood and are expected to reach 50% by 2019. Australia, Canada and the United States are China’s major lobster import sources.
