London has a long history of air pollution, so London is known for a long time as “foggy.” John Eveline, a seventeenth-century English diary writer, wrote a book titled “Smoke Prevention: Or Discuss the inconvenience caused by smoke and smoke over London” to Charlie II, who had to be repatriated. In this pamphlet, he details the dangers of London’s air pollution to the health of the people of London, analyzes the causes of air pollution and provides specific solutions for governance. This article attempts to place the reading of this pamphlet in the special historical and political period in which it was described, pointing out that the writing of air pollution in London in Smoke-Proof is a political metaphor, aiming to welcome the king who returned from repatriation On the other hand, such literary writing practices the literary “publicity” function by discussing issues of public concern, policies affecting air governance.
