Danjiangkou Reservoir Tao Cha canal first is the South-to-North Water Diversion Project one of the important components. Drainage channel length of 4440 meters, the head of the gate bottom elevation of 140 meters, the maximum excavation depth of 40 meters, the canal shoulder spoil soil pile thickness of 6 to 10 meters, 12 to 47 meters deep canal bottom width of 35 to 30 meters, Slope 1: 3 ~ 1: 4.5, every 5 to 6 meters to set up 2.5 meters wide slope protection. The canal was started construction in early 1969. Since April 1970, there have been 14 landslides. The larger 8 of them all slip along the weak zone between the Holocene (Q_4) clay and the upper and middle Pleistocene (Q_3 or Q_2 2) fractured clays. The other six, occurred in the Upper Pleistocene (Q_3) fractured clay, are small in size and mostly cleared.
