  Climate change models predict changing global and regional precipitation regimes, which will have fundamental impacts on terrestrial carbon (C) cycling and consequent feedback to climate change.The temperate steppe in northem China represents the typical vegetation type of the regional grassland biome across Eurasian continent and plays an important role in regional and global C cycling.A field manipulative experiment with 7 treatments, including-60%,-40%,-20%, ambient, +20%, +40%, and +60% growing-season precipitation (June-September), along a precipitation gradient has been set up in a temperate steppe since June, 2010 to examine effects of asymmetrically diurnal warming on ecosystem C cycling.
