East Asia has been developed as a rival of the European Union (EU) and North America in the economic aspect,but the environmental problem in this area has also become more and more serious.In other words,the remarkable economic growth has accelerated the environmental deterioration in both local and global levels in the past decades.In order to improve the environmental quality of East Asia fundamentally,there is an urgent need to evoke peoples pro-environmental behavior through improving the environmental consciousness in daily life and consumption activities.Zheng identified the diversity and structural character of environmental consciousness in the main East Asian cities,and verified that peoples environmental consciousness is strongly correlated with many demographic attributes,but the degree of influences from each factor varies according to socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds (Zheng,2010).This paper concentrates on a comparison of environmental sensitivity defined as an ability to understand environmental change or reaction to new environmental situations in the context of industrial and developing countries in East Asia.
