OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the effect of high plasma homocysteine (Hcy) on cardiac remolding in hypertensive rat and the protective effect of folic and vitamin B 12.METHODS: Seven-week-old spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) were divided into four groups according to different diets.At the end of 20 week period, plasma Hcy levels and blood pressure were measured, and cardiac structure and function were detected using echocardiography and invasive hemodynamic method.Picro-sirius red (PSR) staining was used to check the fibrosis of paraffin embedding ventricle section.
