The association of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and renal impairment with atrial fibrillation was reported in several epidemiological studies [1-4].However, only few previous studies analyzed the role of these important concomitant factors in evaluation of the risk of recurrence after catheter ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation during longterm follow-up.Primary aim of our study was to analyze impact of metabolic syndrome and impaired renal function on long term follow up after catheter ablation of patients with paroxysmal and non-paroxysmal atrialfibrillation.
