Our previous global-scale process-based terrestrial-biogeochemical-nitrogen-cycle (TBNC) model has been improved for using as a tool for the quantitative assessment of human interference with the N cycle.Owing to the greater understanding of internally consistent dynamic coupling between the carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycling processes, three major improvements were implemented to optimize the model configuration.
