  In this study,we aimed at further proposing gas-assisted superparamagnetic extraction (GASE) for selective separation of multi-component proteins on the basis of GASE for potential large-scale separation of single proteins in our previous work.1 Magnetic Poly(glycidyl methacrylate)-Iminodiacetic acid-Zn2+ microspheres (MPMs) for selective separation of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and bovine hemoglobin (BHb) were used as a model.GASE included superparamagnetic adsorption for selectively trapping proteins,and flotation and high gradient magnetic separator (HGMS) for recovering proteins-loaded particles from dilute mixed proteins solution.Our study focused on the feasibility of concentrating proteins-absorbed magnetic particles from dilute mixed proteins solution by flotation.The results showed that the BHb-loaded MPMs could be well concentrated in foaming flotation by simple adjustment of pH values and ionic strength in low regions,without detergent.Impurity BSA had the effects of improving the flotability of BHb-loaded MPMs,acting as foaming agent,but decreasing the enrichment ratio in the GASE process.The flotation conditions were consistent with the selective adsorption ones.Proteins activity was not influenced by flotation process.Under the optimal conditions,the enrichment ratio and recovery percentage reached 39 and 98% within 1.3 min,respectively.Furthermore,the enrichment ratio could be further improved by added flotation steps.These results provided further evidences that GASE technology had the potential of large-scale application.
