Objective: As a special extracellular matrix (ECM), basement membrane (BM) separates the epidermis and dermis, and involves in maintaining epidermal homeostasis.However, little is known about how BM functions in the behaviors of basal keratinocytes in skin wound healing, which could differentiate further into the upper layer of the epidermis in skin.Based on observations in vivo and experiments in vitro, the study was aimed at uncovering the role of BM in regulating the differentiation of basal keratinocytes in human epidermis during wound healing.
