Among organofluorine molecules, trifluoromethylated compounds play unique and important roles in medicinal and agricultural chemistry.Based on our previous work on the Pd-catalyzed oxidative trifluoromethylation of indoles at room temperature,1 we recently have developed a palladium-catalyzed intramolecular oxidative aryl-trifluoromethylation reaction of activated alkenes (Scheme 1).2 This transformation allows the efficient synthesis of a variety of CF3-containing indolone structures.
