Lake Baikal comprises 1/5 of the purest water on the Earth and 4/5 of Russia reserves (Galazy, 2004).A crystal purity of Baikalian waters is determined mainly by activity of unique organic population in it.The most important is phytoplankton inhabiting Baikal water column.Permanent observations of Baikalian phytoplankton have been performed for 60 years at a stationary station in the South Baikal in Bolshiye Koty settlement in 1.5 km from the coast (Izmestyeva et al., 2001; Hampton et al., 2008).
