The relative statistics show China is a developing country with the aging trend of the fastest pace and the largest scale all over the world.With the change of society and life extension of the elderly,the demand for living space has not just stay in the applicable levels.Psychological needs of the aged people should receive due attention.Under the environment of urban gradually accelerated development,a large number of residential settlement of elderly people are bound to be constructed in high-density living environment.So research and study on the emotional space of their living environment has some practical significance on humane care for the elderly.In this paper,based on the survey about the psychological characteristics,residential needs,behavior patterns and other aspects of the aged people as well as the characteristics of current high-density urban space environment and its impact on the elderly for living,subjected on the elderly people in highdensity residential areas of Guangzhou City,focusing on the study of the spiritual needs of their living environment,through literature review and field observations,it would be to analyze the emotional space characteristics of the elderly living environment and constituent elements and to explore the preliminary design strategy based on this.A certain practice guide to create emotional space in high-density residential environment for the elderly is proposed.
