Calixarene are macrocyclic molecules, and this kind of stationary phases have high capacity of molecular recognition.We got good separation of six polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) on calixarene-bonded stationary phases.The known methods, such as spectrometry, electrochemistry, NMR and chromatography, can only confirm some one force, and these methods are not applicable to review the separation mechanism for the identity of the stationary phase (bad solubility in most solvents).Even some methods (e.x.QSRR、 QSERR、 QSAR、 QSPR, etc) can point out the rule of the interaction between some kind of compounds and stationary phase.Comparing with above methods, the quantum chemistry, especially the high precision quantum chemistry methods can be used to study the interactions between molecules quantificationally.
