Aerogels are lightweight nanoporous solids with extremely low thermal conductivity and have been used as excellent thermal insulation materials.However, the poor mechanical properties such as low strength and high brittleness greatly limit the applications in aerospace and building fields.Fiber reinforced aerogel composites with higher strength and better toughness can be prepared by approach of adding ceramic fiber reinforcement.
