OBJECTIVE: Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) is a common complication of antibiotic therapy.Of particular importance is AAD which may result in severe illness, death and high healthcare costs in elderly patients.The prevention and treatment effect of probiotics for AAD have been recognized, however, they remain controversial.Here, we evaluated the efficacy of probiotics for the prevention and treatment of AAD in elderly patients.
