The convergence of visceral and somatic nociceptive inputs mainly at the spinal dorsal horn (SDH) and its analogue medullary dorsal horn (MDH) is regarded as the underlying mechanism for the referral pain from visceral stimuli.Our previous studies suggested that the dorsal commissural nucleus (DCN) is one converging site for the pelvic visceral and somatic nociceptive inputs, however, there still lacks detailed morphological evidence.
