Based on its spatial confinement in cardiomyocytes, neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) regulates a number of physiologic functions by maintaining nitroso-redox balance. We hypothesize that ischemic postconditioning (IPostC) reduces oxidative stress at the early time of reperfusion via nNOS-mediated pathway in heart.
