Composited by microcrystalline magnetic powders and plastics, bonded magnets are widely used in the developing electronic industries for their lower cost and good moldability. However, the magnetic properties are easy to deteriorate due to its reaction with oxygen in humid or warm environment, especially during the process of pressing, injecting or extrusion. There are two main kinds of measures to prevent the corrosion of rare earth magnetic powders. One is to introduce transition elements M to form the intercrstalline phases, which prevent grain boundary phases from decompositing due to its higher corrosion potential. The other one is powder surface pretreatment,by which the anti-corrosion and antioxidation properties can be improved. This work briefly introduced some result about surface treatment of melt spinning rare earth magnetic powders by nitrogen, oxygen and phosphate, the anti-corrosion and antioxidation properties were studied by electrochemical workstation, differential scanning colourimetry and conventional corrosion experiments.
