As it is well known that Greece has a moderate to high seismic hazard,and Athens is on the moderate scale of the Greek Seismic Zonation Map,the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF),which is planned to enlighten the historic city of Athens with an important new cultural center housing the Greek National Opera,the Greek National Library and a large park,was designed for seismic hazard mitigation.From the multiple components of the project,only the opera house and library will be designed for earthquakes with a lower probability of occurrence than the car park,hill,cliff,esplanade,canal and park structures will be designed to accommodate.
