Molecular imprinting is a technique for preparing chemically selective binding sites, which recognize a particular molecule, in a macroporous polymer matrix.The producing of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) involves polymerization in solution of a target molecule (template) with functional and crosslinking monomers.Removal of the template molecule from a resultant polymer leaves behind specific recognition sites that are complementary to the template and enable the polymer to selectively rebind the imprint molecule from a mixture of closely related compounds.
