The past decade has seen an amazing wealth of evidence demonstrating that Sebacinales are worldwide distributed and abundant mutualistic mycobionts of plant roots and thalli, with both a high genetic diversity and a high morphological uniformity, thus harbouring a high percentage of cryptic species.
