Objective:The aim of the study was to introduce the method and analyse the clinical efficacy of using microendoscopic operation for the treatment of far lateral lumbar disc herniation,and to present preliminary evaluation and experiences.Methods:A total of 16 consecutive patients with far lateral lumbar disc herniation (7 cases of interforaminal disc herniation and 9 cases of extraforaminal disc herniation)underwent microendoscopic surgery,whose mean age was 42.6 years (range,35~ 60).Five patients suffering from interforaminal disc herniation were operated according to common microendoscopic discectomy and partly removal of vertebral lamina,isthmus of vertebral arch and zygapophysis were completed.
