Vinyl sulfones widely exist in pharmaceutically active agents1 and naturally active molecules,and are the prevalent molecular skeleton for various organic transformations.2 It is a long-standing goal in organic synthesis for the invention of the methodologies toward this building blocks,and considerable progress has been made in this area.In terms of these synthetic methodologies,3 the overwhelming majority were still not environmental begin enough,often involving high temperature,transition-metal catalysis and limited availability of raw materials.Herein,a more green strategy for the synthesis of (E)-vinyl sulfones was developed.The reaction utilized electrons as oxidant under an elegant constant current with good selectivity.A variety of vinyl sulfones can be obtained directly from facile starting materials at room temperature with good yields.A radical intermediate was detected and the corresponding mechanism was investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments.
