The number of patent filings in all the major industrialized countries is increasing rapidly.This has resulted in an increasingly stringent review by national patent offices of criteria of patentability.In particular,national patent offices have sought to limit the scope of the subject matter claimed and to raise the threshold of inventiveness over the prior art.
