There are more than twenty years since AIDS is accepted as public health concern in Romania.The two different era before and after 1989 offer different context for epidemiological surveillance and public health policy in relationship with AIDS epidemic.The analysis of AIDS epidemic from 1985 to 2005 in connection with transition phenomena raises epidemiological comments,leading to the following conclusions:Healthcare is expensive but much more expensive is the lack of resources in healthcare domain,public health being the most and on long term vulnerable domain.
