The LMO cathode was synthesized by solid phase synthesis method.Two-step coating with Al2O3 use by sol-gel process and subsequent heat treatment.The morphologies of the as-prepared materials were characterized by High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and Field scanning electron microscopy (FSEM), respectively.The results showed that Al2O3 particles appear on the surface of the spinel LiMn2O4 prepared by two-step process.Galvanostatic charge-discharge test indicated that the two-step coating can significantly improve the cycle stability of spinel LiMn2O4 at the room and elevated temperature.The Mn dissolution at 55 ℃ from the spinel samples was tested by Inductive coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICP) after storage 3 weeks.For the solubility of Mn with the two-step-coated LiMn2O4 is only 31.2ppm, which is much lower than the sample with conventional sol-gel coating process and the uncoated one.
