The application of redox chemistry as a powerful tool to control the host-guest complexation has attracted tremendous interest in the field of supramolecular chemistry and materials science.[1,2] Ferrocene (Fc), one of the most widely used redox species that can be oxidized into ferrocenium (Fc+) by chemicals or electrochemistry, has a unique structure and can bind with different kinds of macrocyclic hosts such as cyclodextrin, cucurbituril, and calixarene.
