  Upconversion(UC)luminescent nanomaterials have garnered considerable attention because of their potential applications as luminescence nanodevices.Besides,the UC nanomaterials are promising alternatives to traditional fluorescent biolabels for cell imaging.RE ions doped Y2O3 or their combinations are widely studied as UC luminescent materials, due to their high chemical durability and low phonon energy. Although excellent progress has been made in the synthesis of luminescent material with spherical morphology, report on the multi-shell rare-earth oxides is rather rare.
