Swaziland has the highest HIV prevalence in the world, with 26 percent of the population ages 15-49 infected with the HIV virus.This contributes to the high maternal mortality ratio in Swaziland at 320 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births.In 2010, we conducted an assessment of 59 health facilities to provide critical information on the current status of the provision of emergency obstetric and neonatal care (EmONC) and to help identify deficient areas for targeted interventions.
