Hippocampus is one of the neurogenesis areas in adult mammals, but the function of astrocytes in hippocampus is still less known.In our previous study, fimbria-fornix(FF) transection leads to the activation of rat hippocampal astrocytes in vivo.To explore the role of astrocytes in hippocampal neurogenesis, hippocampal astrocytes were treated by normal or FF-transected hipoocamoal extracts in vitro.
