The shell color of C.nobilis takes on diversity, such as orange, greyish-white, purplish-brown, etc.; there are two forms of color with adductor, orange and milky white.Since there exists difference both in growth rate between individuals of varying colors and in preference of different colors in the market, it is imperative to carry out the study on the inheritance of colors in C.nobilis.In this study the inheritance of adductor colors (orange and milky white) and shell colors (orange, greyish-white and purplish-brown) was examined using the family lines established by complete diallel design, aiming at basing the selective breeding of colors on a solid foundation. Results showed that shell colors were qualitative traits, and free of environment; orange trait was dominant over greyish-white, and maternal inheritance was not present with them.Adductor color was also of qualitative trait, and not subject to environment.Milky-white was dominant over orange and no existence of maternal inheritance.Shell color traits and adductor color traits were not genetically linked, and they followed Mendelian segregation law.
