Poyang Lake is the greatest freshwater lake in China, with a seasonal cycle of high and low water level every year. The lake is mainly surrounded by large floodplain wetlands and is thus also the largest lake-wetland area in China.According to the characteristics of the hydrological cycle in Poyang Lake, we can divided the hydrological cycle each year to four hydrological phases: low-water level phase, increasing water level phase, high water level phase and decreasing water level phase.
