The Xitieshan volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposit (64 Mt of 12.96 ％Zn,1.53 ％Pb,1.41 ％Cu,359.1 g/t Ag,1.81 g/t Au)(Hou and Cook,2009;Sun,1992) is one of the biggest base metal deposits China.This VMS deposit is hosted by the early Paleozoic volcanic-sedimentary rocks of Tanjianshan Group occurs at interme-diate segment of the North Qaidam tectonic me-tallogenic belt,northwestern China (Wu et al.,1987;Zhang et al.,2005).The porphyritic rhyo-lites of the lower Tanjianshan Group form very distinctive rocks within the stratigraphic footwall of the Xitieshan VMS deposit.Based on the pe-trologic and geochemical characteristics,the porphyritic rhyolites are classified into three types:the porphyritic rhyolite 1 (the PR1 suite),the PR2 suite and the PR3 suite.
