There is a common belief that some males are better than others for pollinating certain varieties in date palm.However,there is few studies in this field in Saudi Arabia.Therefore,identification and selection of superior male cultivars which are compatible with local female cultivars is considered to be one of the important research topics for date palm.In this study,we first elaborated the genetic diversity of date palm and summarized the previous studies of date palm hybridization and compatibility in Saudi Arabia.Then,we did hybridization between one male cultivar Khudri and four female cultivars Khudri,Khalas,Nabtet Saifand Sillej to evaluate the affection of male cultivar.
