One of the important problems in the diagnosis of different diseases in their early stages is the determination of bioactive substances, such as steroids and proteins in biological fluids (serum, urine).Proteins can be analyzed by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE); whereas, as steroids are neutral compounds they can analyzed by micelle electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC).The benefits from the high number of theoretical plates (~ 105 t/m) obtained with both CZE and MEKC have been overshadowed by the poor detection limits achieved with UV detection.On-line sample preconcentration (stacking and sweeping) represents an effective and versatile way to enhance concentration sensitivity in CE.So, the primary goal of this work is to improve the sensitivity for the trace analysis of steroids and albumin in biological fluids by CE with UV detection.
