Computing education is garnering more attention from policy makers and educators both locally and globally.In Singapore,about twenty schools are offering the computing curriculum at the GCE “O” level,that is,for grades 9 and 10.Many educators have been advocating for computing education to be formalized and offered as a mainstream subject.Consequently,it is important to understand teachers' perceptions towards the status quo of computing education in schools,as well their attitudes towards ICT education and their competencies in ICT use and computing.From this study,it is found that the backgrounded ICT awareness and competencies seem to have helped teachers in understanding the importance and benefits of computing education.Most teachers,whether computing or non-computing teachers,advocate computing education to be implemented in primary schools,with the guidance of teachers.
