Neuroinflammation and oxidative stress are contributing factors of many central nervous system (CNS) pathologies.The pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β) plays important role in these pathological processes.Astrocytes,multifunctional glial cells, maintain CNS homeostasis and are the primary mediators of IL-1β induced neuronal death.
