Arsenic (As) is a toxic heavy metal that can accumulate in crops, posing a health threat to humans. The genetic mechanism of As accumulation is unclear. Here, quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping was used to unravel the genetic basis of As accumulation in maize using a recombinant inbred line population derived from the Chinese crossbred variety Yuyu22.The kernels had the lowest As content among different maize tissues.Twenty-eight QTLs were identified at two locations, mostly clustered in chromosomal bins 1.02-1.03,1.07-1.08,4.05,5.03,7.00,and 7.02-7.03.
