Guanine rich single stranded DNA occurring in human genome (particularly in telomeric DNA, oncogenes c-myc, K-ras, Bcl-2, and gene promoters) have demonstrated the ability to assemble as quadruplex structures by folding.The stabilization of G-quadruplex by small molecules inhibits telomerase activity besides affecting gene regulation.
