The onset of neuronal death in Parkinsons disease (PD) precedes its clinical symptoms by 5-10 years.Even under the symptomatic treatment, neurodegeneration continues. What drives PD to unstoppable progression remains elusive. We have recently developed in vivo and in vitro chronic modeIs that recapitulate the delayed and progressive feature of PD.Using these models, we demonstrated that uncontrolled chronic neuroinflammation may be a major driving force of such a neurodegenerative process.
