  To date there is no cure for Alzheimers disease (AD).Emerging evidence indicates that cholesterol and isoprenoids may play important roles in the pathogenesis of AD.We have shown that treatment with a cholesterol-lowering drug, simvastatin (SV), enhances synaptic plasticity and rescues memory in a mouse model of AD.
