The purpose of this thesis was to design business models for SK MeditationCenter located in Bangkok, Thailand.The center offers free meditation classes whichare taught by the founder, Mr.David.Majority of the meditation centers in Thailandrely on the donation and/or the owners funds.However, in a long run, Mr.Davidwishes to operate his center financially independent firom such sources of finance.Thestudy was then conducted to accomplish this aim. The primary qualitative research methodology was utilized in this study in orderto discover the suitable applicable business models for the base case.It consisted ofthree interviews with organizations in the same industry as well as a closely relatedone.The sample searched of another three companies, and the theories usedthroughout the thesis applied the secondary research method. From the six interviews and sample searched, their business operation could becategorized into seven types of business models from three dimensions i.e.industry,revenue, and enterprise.After taking into account internal and external analysis, sixmodels are applicable for SK Meditation Center.The key suggestions from thesemodels are that the center should be well established and reputable in the meditationaspect before moving into other industries for revenue generating purpose.Arecommended industry was health and mind related which is a complementarybusiness to the meditation practice.It is also advised that potential meditation studentsare not only those existing practitioners, but could be people from totally differentareas and interests. It is concluded that the business models recommended might be subject toas this is a rapid growth industry with a lot of sensitive factors associated.The factbenefits from practicing meditation are substantially huge for both physically andmentally makes it highly possible for this industry to gear more towardscommercialization.This thesis aimed to propose the business models in which suchcenter could generate revenue sufficiently for internal operation only.Hopefully allanalyses in this study could assist future meditation teachers who wish to establish ameditation school with a similar aim to SK Meditation Center.
