所谓民画就是将韩民族的美意识与情感可视化的绘画,即表现韩国基层文化世界观的绘画。因此,民画反映着庶民的生活,凝结着庶民的感情,并向世人展示了庶民服中的世界。尽管如此,由于缺乏在学术研究中所必需的作者及确切年代的作品,且民画本身就是一种与一般正统绘画所不同的代表民俗及民间艺术的绘画形式,因此对于民画的学术研究实际上处于一种停滞的状态。
