语言是文化的载体，任何语言都不能脱离文化而独立存在。而词汇又是语言信息的载体，语言中的民族文化特征自然会由词汇反映出来，不了解词汇的这一特性，就无法掌握这一门语言，更无法用其进行交际。本文从词汇学、语义学的角度阐述英语词汇较汉语词汇所具有的某些不同的文化内涵及在英语教学中如何帮助学生理解不同文化背景下特定词汇的文化内涵，从而帮助学生更好地掌握及运用英语。
Language is the carrier of culture, and no language can exist independently of the culture. Vocabulary, on the other hand, is the carrier of language information. The national cultural characteristics in language are naturally reflected in the vocabulary. Without understanding this feature of vocabulary, we can not grasp the language and can not even use it for communication. This essay expounds some different cultural connotations of English vocabulary from the perspective of lexicology and semantics and how to help students understand the cultural connotation of specific words in different cultural backgrounds in English teaching to help students better grasp And use English.
