皮亚杰是发生认识论的理论创始人。发生认识论的提出为认识论研究提供了一个全新的角度。相对于传统认识论只重视认识的结果,皮亚杰认为我们更应该从认识的发生和发展来研究认识论。他一再强调认识的建构是通过主客体之间的相互作用实现的,在这种相互作用中起中介作用的活动本身。皮亚杰以运算这种认知活动作为儿童思维发展的标志把儿童的认知发展划分为四个过程:感知运动阶段、前运算阶段、具体运算阶段和形式运算阶段。皮亚杰认为人们的认识具有结构性,并且这一结构是一个不断进行建构的过程。人们的认识是一个从低到高的发展过程,随着认识结构的不断完善,人们对于客观世界的认识程度也在不断地加深。发生认识论对传统认识论进行了扬弃,使我们对于人的认识获得了更为深刻的了解。
