目前,在我国金属矿山使用的牙轮钻头仅有 KY-250型和 KJY-250型两种,分别适于穿凿坚硬、极坚硬矿岩,而对于中硬和中硬以下的矿岩,尚没有一种适用钻头。据调查,仅鞍钢矿山公司使用牙轮钻机的五个铁矿,中硬岩层(f=6~12)约占剥岩总量的50%以上,数量大,分布范围广。为了提高钻凿速度,延长钻头使用寿命和降低穿爆成本,我们在1980年下半年开始设计适于穿凿中硬岩层的钻头。1981年起分三批研制、试验,于1982年12月通过鉴定。
