《北京》型3000马力内燃机车为液力传动内燃机车,它的传动系统主要包括液力传动箱、车轴齿轮箱、辅助传动装置以及相互联结的万向轴与弹性联轴节。图1为该车传动系统的布置图。图2为该车传动系统的示意图。《北京》型3000马力内燃机车的液力传动箱采用的是EQ2027/Z510型液力传动箱(简称传动箱),现与12240中速柴油机配套,作为北京型客运内燃机车的传动装置。这种传动箱,根据使用要求,可以装液力制动器,也可以不装液力制动器;可以一端输出(即输出轴只一端有输出法兰),也可以两端输出(即输出轴两端都有输出法兰)。
