In 2016, the overall economic operation in Japan continued the weak recovery trend. From the recovery trend, private consumption, which accounts for 60% of GDP, is relatively weak; the investment in equipment of enterprises is sluggish; the expansion of manufacturing industry is slowing down; and the deflation situation is grim. However, the trade situation has improved and the employment situation is more optimistic. Constrained by structural problems such as insufficient internal and external demand, weak investment, and population aging, it is still not easy to change the economic downturn in 2017. Japan’s economic growth in 2017 will be lower than in 2016, and low economic growth will be “normalized.”
